John Akram

  • Is a Benefits Specialist in the Arizona National Guard  Human Resources Office.  
  • Serves on the Board of Directors for the 100 Black Men of Phoenix, which has been  a  Mentoring organization for young men in the Roosevelt School District for the past 30 years.  The 100 is a chapter of the  100 Black MEN of  America  which has 114 chapters in the United States.  
  •  John believes in and is actively doing his best to live “The Golden Rule”. 
  • A Faith Representative on the AZIFM Council as a Muslim.
  • He has made the Hajj to the Holy City of Mecca, Saudi Arabia. Hajj is one of the Five Pillar of Islam where every Muslim is required to complete (if he or she can), at least once in their lifetime.
  • He embraced Islam in 1981 at Masjid Jauharatul Islam, in Phoenix Arizona where he currently is still attending. He holds Associate Degrees in Social Services and Aircraft Maintenance Technology from the Community College of the Air Force.
  • He earned a Bachelor of Science Degree at Embrey Riddle Aeronautical University and a Masters Degree in Organizational Management from the University of Phoenix.
  • After 25 years in the U.S. Air Force, John retired in Phoenix where he and his family have made it their home.
  • After the Air Force, John became the Human Resources Manager for Pinal County and retired in 2009
  • He now spends most of his time in community services
